The Lotus and The Enso: Symbols Of Healing

The logo for Rosinski Therapy is a combination of symbols from Buddhist traditions, and symbolizes very powerful and universal concepts in our lives.
In Buddhist symbolism the lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. It is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off its petals.
In Zen Buddhism, an ensō (円相, , “circle” ) is a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. The ensō symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and mu (the void).
Very often these concepts come up in therapy. Mindfulness is the first step in exploring these concepts more deeply. Mindfulness is also from the Buddhist Philosophy and has become more prevalent in western therapy over the past years. For clients who are interested, this can be incorporated more deeply into sessions.
